709. Deputy Aidan Farrelly asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration the number of Garda driver instructor courses that were held at either Garda headquarters or Garda Training College in each of the years of 2023 to date in 2025, in tabular form. [71699/25]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána under Section 33 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024. This includes the recruitment, training and appointment of Gardaí and the continuing professional development of Gardaí. The Commissioner is independent in his functions under Section 34 of the Act and I, as Minister, have no role in these matters.
I have been informed by the Garda authorities that driver instructor courses only take place in the Garda College. Therefore there were no courses held in Garda Headquarters.
An Garda Síochána have provided the table below which shows the number of Garda driver instructor courses that were held at the Garda College in each of the years of 2023, 2024 and to date in 2025.
