Ceisteanna (133)

Martin Kenny

Ceist:

133. Deputy Martin Kenny asked the Minister for Transport the reason the S2 bus which runs in Sligo town is not operating as it should, leaving students without access to vital local links in the area for their studies in ATU (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport; however, I am not involved in the day-to-day operations of public transport. I understand the importance of safety considerations for passengers when using public transport services, and as Minister for Transport I continue to engage with the NTA on an ongoing basis in relation to maintaining high operational standards on all forms of public transport.

However, the query raised by the Deputy is an operational matter for Bus Éireann. I have, therefore, referred the Deputy's question to the company for direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within ten working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Orders.
