236. Deputy Joe Cooney asked the Minister for Education and Youth the amount of funding her Department provided to schools for works under the Summer Works Scheme in 2024 and 2025, by county, in tabular form; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [72772/25]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs the Deputy may be aware, the purpose of the Summer Works Scheme (SWS) is to enable individual school authorities to undertake small-scale building works on a devolved basis and, ideally, can be carried out during the summer months or at other times that avoid disrupting the operation of the school. The SWS operates on a multi-annual basis for categories of works such as roof works, window replacement, mechanical and electrical works, external works etc.
Since 2024 my department has provided funding to the value of almost €36m under the Summer works scheme to schools. The below table sets out the funding provided under the Summer Works Scheme for the years 2024 to date as per the Deputy's request:
