460. Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Minister for Education and Youth if she will review the case of a person (details supplied) who has been seeking the correction of her pay scale and recognition of service following a period of career break and study leave; if she will clarify why the appropriate pay scale adjustment has not yet been applied despite the submission of the required documentation and confirmation that the matter was to be corrected; what steps are being taken by her Department to resolve this issue without further delay; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I wish to inform the deputy that officials in my department have carried out a review of the salary scale point for the teacher referred to and they have corresponded directly with the teacher. Arrears of payment in respect of this review shall issue to her on 31st December 2025.

Separately, the teacher has submitted an application to recognise her teaching service abroad. A decision on the application to recognise the teaching service abroad to progress further up the salary scale is being considered and a decision letter will issue shortly. I wish to apologise for the delay in receiving a decision, there are a huge volume of applications on hand at the moment.
