The Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland (OPW) pays ground rent on a variety of sites throughout the country. By their nature, the financial outlay for ground rents is extremely low, and they are usually associated with very long-term arrangements which provides the OPW with long-term security of tenure. The creation of ground rent leases was discontinued in 1978 under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1978.

The table at the link below details the Ground Rent leases held by OPW and the annual rent payable. The Ground Rents listed range in annual cost €0.01to €419.36 with the vast majority being under €100 per annum.
