Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Education and Youth if her special education section has reviewed the evaluation of the WALK PEER Programme that was completed by persons (details supplied); her plans to provide feedback on the report; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraI can advise the Deputy the Special Education Section in my Department has recently received the evaluation report. Officials from the Special Education Section have arranged a meeting with representatives from WALK on the 22nd January to discuss the findings and recommendations contained in the report.
Those findings and recommendations in the report, as well as those arising from other transition programmes will inform discussions for the Inter-Departmental group recently established to develop a National Transitions Policy. This work will be undertaken in the context of the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People.
