The Department conducts Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) for new IT systems that process personal data. This is in accordance with the GDPR, having regard in particular to Article 35 and Recital 90 which require a DPIA where processing is likely to result in a high risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals.

As AI tools are not used to process personal data by the Department, a Data Protection Impact Assessment for this purpose has not been conducted.
