I wish to advise the Deputy that my Department has taken the lead in the development of the new National Maritime Security Strategy, the first time Ireland has developed such a strategy. Preparing it has involved extensive outreach, both domestically and internationally, with key stakeholders. This work has also included a public consultation on the strategy's development in order to get public input and build consensus on the risks, challenges and opportunities facing Ireland’s maritime domain. My officials are currently preparing the strategy for its publication shortly.
