Deputy Malcolm Byrne asked the Minister for Education and Youth the number of school secretaries and caretakers employed at both primary and secondary school level; the number employed by each different mechanism, that is, employed directly by the school, those employed by her Department, those employed by the ETB and so on; and if she will make a statement on the matter. **Numbers shown are relevant to Secretaries currently paid on the Department of Education and Youth's payroll only, it does not include Secretaries paid directly by schools as we do not hold this data
While the Department processes payroll on behalf of the ETBs, we do not hold the necessary information and therefore we cannot provide the requested numbers.
