Aidan Farrelly

Ceist:

625. Deputy Aidan Farrelly asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage if he will provide a schedule of derogation licence requests made to the National Parks and Wildlife Service to undertake control measures in respect of protected animal and birds by local authority, to include location sought to conduct control measures in each year from 2019 to date in 2026; if he will include species in the schedule; and if he will also include a schedule of requests that were refused. The information sought is not readily available and its compilation would involve a disproportionate amount of time and work. The term derogation can apply to nearly all 10,000 applications received annually into the Wildlife Licensing Unit (WLU) of the National Parks & Wildlife Service and applications are not recorded by local authority area.

Contact can be made directly with WLU (wildlifelicence@npws.gov.ie) to seek clarity on licence and derogation types that might apply to this query.
