Ceisteanna (959)

Cormac Devlin

Ceist:

959. Deputy Cormac Devlin asked the Minister for Health the number of complaints or concerns received by her Department, the HSE or the PSI since 1 December 2025 relating to non-display of fees, unclear pricing or refusal to provide an itemised receipt, by month, by category where available; the way in which patients can escalate concerns where they believe the guidance is not being followed; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Since 1 December 2025, PSI has received two specific queries from members of the public in relation to the provision of itemised receipts and responses providing relevant information have been issued.

One of the roles of PSI is to provide advice, support and guidance to the public, the pharmacy profession and the Government on pharmacy care, treatment and services in Ireland. This is carried out in a number of ways, including making information available on its website, including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). PSI also responds to pharmacy practice queries it receives.

If a patient/member of the public is unhappy with the service they receive from a pharmacy or pharmacist, they can raise it with the supervising or superintendent pharmacist of a pharmacy who have specific statutory governance roles and responsibilities under the Pharmacy Act 2007, regulations and statutory rules. If this does not resolve the matter, they can raise a concern with or make a statutory complaint to PSI. Further information is available on the PSI website.

There have been no statutory complaints received by the PSI relevant to this question since 1 December 2025. No concerns have been raised for further action to date.

There have been no other complaints received by my Department or by the HSE relevant to this question since 1 December 2025.
