Referred to CSO for answer

The CSO publishes annual estimates of population by citizenship in its Population and Migration Estimates publication. It must be noted that the estimates do not disaggregate by EEA countries, but rather the EU27 countries, therefore, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein are included in the “Citizenship outside Ireland, UK and EU27” category.

The latest published estimates are for April 2025 and disaggregate the population by citizenship:

Irish State Population Estimate

5,458,600

Estimated Population of Irish Citizens

4,570,200

Estimated Population of UK Citizens

91,300

Estimated Population of EU27 Citizens (Excl. IRL)
