Ken O'Flynn

Ceist:

666. Deputy Ken O'Flynn asked the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage whether his Department (or the Residential Tenancies Board under its remit) maintains and publishes up to date statistics on the number of eviction / termination notices issued by private landlords; if so, for each quarter since 2022, the number of notices which have been issued; his views on the trends in this figure; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Residential Tenancies Board (RTB) was established as a quasi-judicial independent statutory body under the Residential Tenancies Acts 2004-2025, to regulate the rental sector; provide information to tenants and landlords; maintain a national register of tenancies; facilitate the resolution of disputes between tenants and landlords; and conduct research and provide information to inform policy.

My Department does not hold the details sought by the Deputy. However, the RTB regularly updates such information on its data hub at: https://rtb.ie/data-insights/rtb-data-hub/. If you cannot find the information there, arrangements have been put in place to facilitate the provision of information by State Bodies to members of the Oireachtas. The RTB has set up a dedicated email address for this purpose and may be contacted at OireachtasMembersQueries@rtb.ie to establish the extent to which it may hold the information sought.

My Department continually works with the RTB to keep the operation of the RTB, the Residential Tenancies Acts and the residential rental sector under constant review to ensure that an appropriately balanced policy and legislative framework is maintained.
