Visa requirements and visa waiver arrangements in the State are provided for in secondary legislation made under the Immigration Act 2004.

I can advise the deputy that the Short-Stay Visa Waiver Programme allows nationals of certain countries, who have entered the UK on foot of certain UK short stay visas, to travel to Ireland without the requirement to obtain an Irish visa. They instead may use the time remaining on their current leave to remain in the UK. Full details and conditions of this programme are available on my Department's website at the following link:

The Short-Stay Visa Waiver Programme is underpinned by S.I. No. 473/2014 - Immigration Act 2004 (Visas) Order 2014, as amended, which can be accessed at: [www.irishstatutebook.ie/eli/2014/si/473/made/en/print] .

Schedule 2 in this legalisation covers waivers such a diplomatic waiver while schedule 3 covers the Short-Stay Visa Waiver Programme.
