Ceisteanna (159)

Ken O'Flynn

Ceist:

159. Deputy Ken O'Flynn asked the Minister for Transport whether his Department has defined objective criteria for determining when a national road project listed in the National Development Plan progresses from inclusion status to an active delivery priority; whether the N72 Mallow relief road currently meets those criteria; and if he will set out the basis for that assessment. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for overall policy and exchequer funding in relation to the National Roads Programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 and in line with the National Development Plan (NDP), the planning, design and construction of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned. This is also subject to the Infrastructure Guidelines and the necessary statutory approvals.

The advancement of the national road projects listed in the National Development Plan and Sectoral Investment Plan for Transport is a priority. In that regard, the Sectoral Investment Plan contains a list of projects expected to be in procurement or under construction by 2030. This includes the N72 Mallow Relief Road.

Noting the above position, I have referred your question to TII for a direct reply regarding the latest status of the N72 Mallow Relief Road. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Orders.
