Ceist:515. Deputy John Paul O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Youth for an update on the capital project for a school (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9132/26]

The school to which the deputy referred was granted funding under the Additional Accommodation Scheme for a project providing a two classroom Special Education Needs (SEN) base. The project is devolved to the school authority for delivery.
In September 2025, the Department authorised the project to proceed to construction. In December 2025 an unforeseen technical issue was identified during early site works relating to non-compliance with Building Regulations at the connection point between the new extension and the existing building. This has implications for the approved design and construction programme. The school has been requested to submit a formal change order outlining the preferred technical solution and associated costs. The Department awaits this submission which will be assessed in line with established procedures once received. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
