945. Deputy Claire Kerrane asked the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality the number of private companies and charities registered by Tusla's Alternative Care Inspection and Monitoring Service as children's homes; and to provide a list of same. [9909/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraIn line with the provisions of Part VIII of the Child Care Act, 1991, Tusla’s Alternative Care Inspection and Monitoring Service (ACIMS) is responsible for the registration and inspection of non-statutory (private and voluntary) children’s residential centres. On this basis, all non-statutory centres are required to be registered with Tusla before commencing operation and it is an offence to operate without registration being secured.
Tusla has advised that ACIMS is not in a position to supply the names and address of individually registered centres as to do so may lead to the identification of the at risk children who are resident in these centres. A high-level breakdown of the current number of registered centres operated by the various private and voluntary agencies involved is presented as follows:
