253. Deputy Paul McAuliffe asked the Minister for Transport to provide an update on the Swords to city centre core bus corridor. [11138/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. The National Transport Authority (NTA) has responsibility for the planning and development of public transport infrastructure, including the BusConnects Core Bus Corridor in Dublin.
As the Deputy may be aware, my Department recently published its NDP Sectoral Investment Plan, setting out indicative timelines for major transport projects, including the five BusConnects programmes. Indicative timelines indicate some BusConnects construction components will extend beyond 2030.
Steady progress has been made in developing and implementing BusConnects in recent years.
In Dublin, the major infrastructure element of BusConnects comprises Core Bus Corridor (CBC) schemes. An Coimisiún Pleanála has approved all 12 Core Bus Corridor schemes. However, legal proceedings are ongoing in relation to six CBCs, including Swords to City Centre CBC.
Noting the NTA's responsibility for BusConnects Dublin, I have referred the Deputy's question to the NTA for a direct reply. Please contact my private office, if you do not receive a reply within 10 days.
