As the key provider of accommodation for Government Departments and Agencies, the Office of Public Works (OPW) provides accommodation for An Garda Siochána (AGS) in accordance with their requirements. The day to day management of Garda Stations is an operational matter for AGS.

The OPW provides ongoing services to AGS including the provision of new accommodation by way of purchase, lease, or construction, and the design, procurement and management of construction, renovation and maintenance projects.

Where AGS no longer has a requirement for a particular Garda Station, the OPW seeks alternative State use under the Protocols for the Transfer and Sharing of State Property Assets. If no alternative State use is identified the property is included in the OPW's Disposal Programme.

There is ongoing, continuous engagement between the OPW and AGS in relation to their strategic property requirements.
