I am pleased to inform the Deputy that €82 million in capital funding has been provided to schools in North Tipperary since 2020.

This funding has supported the upgrading of 37 schools either through provision of a new school building, a large-scale extension or provision of modular accommodation.

There are also currently 3 school projects in North Tipperary under construction, at Boher National School, Scoil Naisiunta Lios An Halla and St. Joseph's CBS Nenagh. A further 7 schools?are also approved to?undergo works as part of the Summer Works Climate Action Scheme, covering a wide range of works from External Environment projects to Climate Action & Science Labs projects.

This progress made to date over recent years will be built on by €7.55 billion of capital investment of €7.55bn in our schools and Youth Sector under the NDP for the 2026 to 2030 period. This investment will support the operation of the school system and the Youth sector with the necessary infrastructure and facilities for the years ahead.

In this regard, I have recently published the NDP Sectoral Investment Plan for the Education and Youth Sectors. This NDP Sectoral Plan involves a very strong emphasis on maximising existing capacity and prioritisation of school building projects to meet the most urgent needs.

This NDP funding will facilitate the completion of close to 300 projects currently at construction which will deliver over 30,000 additional and modernised school places. In addition, the first tranche of 105 prioritised projects to progress to tender or construction over the course of 2026 and 2027 will deliver 27,000 additional and modernised school places. These projects comprise a total investment of over €1.6 billion. This list includes an extension project at St. Anne’s Special School in Roscrea.

A department-led prioritisation process will continue over the course of 2026 and 2027 to assess and evaluate the progression of individual projects through the design pipeline. This process will involve engagement with key stakeholders and individual schools.
