Liam Quaide

Ceist:

352. Deputy Liam Quaide asked the Minister for Defence the number of days in 2025 on which at least one Naval Service vessel was unavailable for patrol due to crew shortages or maintenance issues; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12915/26]

The Naval Service currently has a fleet of eight vessels. Four of the vessels are regularly deployed on Maritime Defence and Security Operations (MDSO). These four vessels consist of three P60 class vessels as well as the LÉ Aoibhinn (P71) with all four vessels conducting patrols on a rotation basis.

I am advised by the military authorities that during 2025, three scheduled Naval Service Patrol days were not completed as a result of a part failure on board a vessel which required repair, while there were zero days lost to crew shortages.
