Deputy Malcolm Byrne asked the Minister for Education and Youth the systems in place to agree performance metrics of Chief Executives of agencies within the aegis of her Department; the way in which these are measured; the person or body that carries out the assessment; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Department of Education and Youth bodies within the scope of this question operate under the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies (2016) (“the Code”). Under the Code, responsibility for ensuring high standards of governance across all aspects of a state body rests primarily with its Board.
The performance of the Chief Executive Officer is assessed by the Board. Section 1.7 of the Code sets out the matters reserved for Board decision, which include the assessment of their performance.
