Deputy Ciarán Ahern asked the Minister for Social Protection the number of people currently in receipt of the Bereaved Partner’s (Contributory) Pension and the Bereaved Partner’s (Non-Contributory) Pension, in tabular form; the number of additional applications received for both pensions following changes to the rules in July 2025; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAs of 31 January 2026, there were 127,896 people in receipt of Bereaved Partner’s (Contributory) Pension and 957 people in receipt of Bereaved Partner’s (Non-Contributory) Pension. The number of claims registered for Bereaved Partner’s (Contributory) Pension and Bereaved Partner’s (Non-Contributory) Pension for 2024 and 2025 is shown below.
