922. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration if he will establish the total number of suspicious transaction reports received by the Financial Intelligence Unit Ireland since the commencement of the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing) (Amendment) Act 2021, with a breakdown by sector where available; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In relation to the data sought by the Deputy, the Financial Intelligence Unit sits within An Garda Síochána. The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána under Section 33 of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024, including operational policing and recording of data, and I, as Minister, have no role in these matters.
