Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine if his attention has been drawn to reports of potential redundancies in beef processing facilities amid declining cattle throughput; the contingency measures in place to protect rural employment in counties such as County Offaly; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am aware that some meat processors have commenced reviews of their operations. Notification of redundancies and contingency plans to deal with them fall within the remit of my colleague, the Minister of Enterprise, Tourism & Employment.
