59. Deputy Colm Burke asked the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment the number of people employed in State-supported companies (companies that are client firms of state agencies such as Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland and Údarás na Gaeltachta) at the beginning of 2026; whether this represents an increase since the beginning of 2025; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department collects data annually on employment in the enterprise agency client companies being clients of Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland and Údarás na Gaeltachta.

The survey asks enterprise agency clients for their employment on the 31st of October each year. The latest results for 2025, which were published by my Department last week on 12th February, finds that employment in client companies of the agencies is now at the highest ever level, at over 554,608 jobs. This is an increase of 7,636 total jobs in 2025 compared to 2024. The figures for 2026 will be collated later this year.

Employment in agency client firms now represents 20% of total employment in Ireland. These results demonstrate the continued resilience of our export oriented firms in Ireland.
