Environmental Impact Assessments and Appropriate Assessments, put in place at the European Level and enacted in Ireland through relevant planning legislation, do not have a defined timeline in statute for their completion once commenced, as such there have been no such timelines to report against in the measurement of those assessments.

However, Environmental Impact Assessments can have a subsequent effect on planning decision timelines, potentially delaying the issuance of a decision.

Information on whether Environmental Impact Assessments are generally impacting on planning matters or whether any action is planned to address potential impact should be directed to my colleague the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
