Deputy Conor Sheehan asked the Minister for Transport following the refurbishment of the first class carriages on the intercity services from Dublin to Cork if consideration will be given to refurbishing the standard class carriages on the Mark 4 fleet; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraAs Minister of Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding of public transport. The operation, maintenance and renewal of the rail network, including any refurbishment of rail vehicles, is a matter for Iarnród Éireann (IÉ) in the first instance.
