479. Deputy John Paul O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Youth for an update on capital works being carried out in a school (details supplied) to accommodate special education; the works being undertaken; the costs of the works and timeframe for completion; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The school to which the Deputy refers was approved to enter the Department’s pipeline of school building projects under the ASA scheme for a project providing one Mainstream Classroom and two Special Education Tuition Rooms and Ancillary. The project is devolved to the school authority for delivery.

I am pleased to confirm that approval to progress this project to Stage 4 (Construction) was issued to the school authority in October 2025. The project now falls under the school authority’s remit to advance accordingly.

Works are progressing on site and expenditure to date is in accordance with the conditions of the contract, which is commercially sensitive information at this point in time The project is currently expected to be completed by Q3 2026.
