Deputy Paul Nicholas Gogarty asked the Minister for Education and Youth further to this Deputy's Topical Debate on 17 February 2026, the practical steps her Department will take in relation to a playing pitch for a school (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. My department is aware of the concerns of the school in relation to their green space and has worked closely with the school to reach a solution in this regard.
The Deputy will appreciate that my department is required to utilise the funding available to ensure that every child has access to a school place in circumstances and there is a large demand for special class provision in the Lucan school planning area.
I can assure the Deputy that department officials have engaged with the school authorities in relation to this matter and will continue to do so.
