Combatting all forms of domestic, sexual and gender-based violence (DSGBV) and ensuring that victims and survivors have access to the support and care they need is a priority for me. Since its establishment in 2024, Cuan has been working to accelerate the delivery of safe accommodation across the country, in line with the Government’s Zero Tolerance Strategy on DSGBV and currently funds 78 DSGBV organisations nationally, including 20 domestic violence refuges.
Cuan does not hold comprehensive data on the number of children admitted to women’s refuges over the past ten years, as this largely predates the Agency's establishment. As previously noted to the Deputy, indicative data submitted by Cuan's funded service on a range services to be delivered in 2025 projected the number of children to be accommodated in domestic violence refuges would be 1,914. Projected figures for 2026 are not yet available.
