CAB is a multi-agency statutory body established under the Criminal Assets Bureau Act 1996. The Bureau’s remit is to target a person's assets, wherever situated, which derive, or are suspected to derive, directly or indirectly, from criminal conduct.
I am advised by CAB that the table below sets out the amount of cash and other financial assets frozen (such as cryptocurrency) and economic value of assets for the period 2014 - 2024. The figures in respect of jewellery, property, vehicles, designer goods, livestock and other are based on the estimated value placed by the Bureau on the asset at the time of making the application to the Court under section 2(1) of the Proceeds of Crime Act 1996.
It is important to note that following the completion of investigations and hearings, all assets listed may not equate in returns to the Exchequer.
The figures for 2025 are not yet available and will be published in the respective annual report. CAB annual reports are available to view at: https://www.cab.ie/annual-reports/
