Sport Ireland, which is funded by my Department, is the statutory body with responsibility for the development of sport, increasing participation at all levels and raising standards. Its remit includes the allocation of funding to National Governing Bodies, Local Sports Partnerships and other funded bodies, for the design and implementation of a range of targeted programmes and initiatives to promote increased sports participation.

While Sport Ireland does not have a statutory role in relation to the regulation of governance in sports bodies, it plays an important role in promoting, supporting, and strengthening good governance practices across the sector — including the adoption and implementation of the Governance Code for Sport.

I have referred the Deputy's question to Sport Ireland for direct reply in relation to these matters. I would ask the Deputy to inform my office if a reply is not received within 10 days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Orders.
