Dáil Éireann Debate, Tuesday - 24 March 2026
566. Deputy John McGuinness asked the Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport if all documents, minute books and any other items relative to the history of The Kilkenny Design Workshops currently being stored uncatalogued in the National Archives will be transferred to an organisation (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22477/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraI am advised that records relating to the Kilkenny Design Workshop were deposited in the National Archives many years ago. These are currently in off-site storage as the National Archives awaits the completion of the redevelopment of its archival repository. Upon completion of this redevelopment project, the process of returning records from external storage will begin later this year, and is estimated to take in the region of two years to complete. As records are returned from external storage, the National Archives will assess whether some records are more appropriately deposited in the archives of the relevant local authorities.
