Deputy Barry Ward asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science if his attention has been drawn to urgent correspondence sent to his office (details supplied); the actions he will take to ensure that this is addressed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraThe Deputy may be aware that since the unilateral decision of the US Ireland Alliance to pause the recruitment of scholars, departmental officials have engaged and met with its President and representatives of the Board of the Alliance with a view to securing the restoration of the scholarship programme. To date, these efforts have not proved successful to date and my Department is now examining further options in terms of next steps in this matter.
My officials are preparing a response to the recent correspondence which will issue in due course.
