518. Deputy Malcolm Byrne asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment the public information campaigns currently in place or being planned to explain the need for renewable energy in Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27064/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraMy Department recently launched the ‘Our Energy, Our Future’ information campaign with the aim of building public support for the energy transition by highlighting the opportunities presented by renewables and outlining what we have achieved so far.
A nationwide, digital only, campaign was live in February and March of this year, supplemented by an ongoing organic campaign. Further iterations of the campaign are in the planning stages.
This campaign supports the overall Department policy objectives of:
Accelerate the delivery of offshore wind, onshore wind and solar.
Build support for renewables in communities around Ireland, in particular rural and coastal communities.
Realise the benefits of renewable energy, such as job creation and regional economic development.
The campaign communicates how renewable energy is essential to Ireland's energy security as well as being a foundational element of our climate response.
