Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Defence further to Parliamentary Question No. 270 of 24 February 2026, the annual cost of the optimised maintenance contract for ships' main engines and propulsion systems in the Naval Service for each of the past three years and the projected cost for 2026; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The detailed information sought by the Deputy is not readily available within the time frame sought. At the request of my Department the military authorities are conducting the search, retrieval and collation of same. I will arrange to have this information forwarded to the Deputy as soon as it is available.

The following deferred reply was received under Standing Orders.
I refer to PQ 28409/26, where you asked ‘further to Parliamentary Question No. 270 of 24 February 2026, the annual cost of the optimised maintenance contract for ships' main engines and propulsion systems in the Naval Service for each of the past three years and the projected cost for 2026; and if she will make a statement on the matter’.

I am further advised that this contract covers the Main Engines and Propulsion Systems Support provided by Wartsilla, who manufacture and support all components from propeller to, and including Main Engine.
