368. Deputy Barry Ward asked the Minister for Transport the number of new cars sold in Ireland in each of the years 2024, 2025 and to date in 2026, broken down by fuel type; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27887/26]

As Minister of State with responsibility for International and Road Transport, Logistics, Rail and Ports, I wish to clarify that the Department of Transport has no role in the sale of vehicles. Vehicle registration details are supplied by the Revenue Commissioners to the Department and form the point of entry to the National Vehicle and Driver File (NVDF).

The table below shows the number of newly registered vehicles on the NVDF in 2024, 2025 and 2026 (to date), by fuel type.
