The project for St. Catherine’s Special School is devolved for delivery to Waterford and Wexford Education and Training Board (WWETB).

The brief for this project comprises of the development of a new purpose-built, 25 classroom school for pupils with special educational needs. It is located on a greenfield site in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow.

The project is currently at stage 4 (construction) of the delivery process having commenced on site towards the end of Q4 2025. The length of time a project takes to deliver depends on several factors, including scale and complexity. The department has been actively engaged with the Design Team and WWETB throughout the process and will continue to engage to provide practical advice and assistance on this important project. WWETB will continue to engage directly with the school authorities to keep them fully informed of progress.
