103. Deputy Niamh Smyth asked the Minister for Education and Youth to review application (details supplied); and if she will provide an update on same. [28969/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraI can confirm to the Deputy that my department has an application on hand for capital funding under the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) scheme from the school in question.
The NDP Implementation Plan for the Education and Youth sector 2016-2030 involving €7.5 billion along with the first tranche of projects to progress to tender and/or construction during 2026 and 2027 was published in January 2026. This NDP Implementation Plan will optimise outputs from the NDP allocations, with a strong focus on maximising existing school capacity, progressing priority projects where local capacity across schools in the area is insufficient, and ensuring delivery that is affordable, offers value for money, and meets functional needs.
It is not possible to give a definitive timeline for the duration of the assessment process as this varies from application to application and depends on a number of factors including the provision of required documentation, priorities for the department namely provision for demographically required mainstream classrooms and special education classrooms, provision of NDP funding to progress applications, complexity of sites and engagement with the patrons and school authorities relating to the application.
As soon as a decision has been reached, the school will be contacted directly by my department.
