317. Deputy Paul Donnelly asked the Minister for Defence if she is aware of Irish Defence Forces members participating in military competitions with the Israeli Defence Forces; and if confirmed, her views on such on participation. [29788/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe Defence Forces participate in international military competitions in order to promote in the Defence Forces the adoption of international best practice, exchange of tactics, techniques and procedures (TTP) and encourage the development of military skills. It also contributes to the development of particular military skillsets and doctrines.
The decision on who to invite to these competitions lies with the hosting nation. I am informed by the military authorities that the Defence Forces have not participated in any military competitions organised by the Israeli Defence Forces. I am also informed that, to date, no Defence Forces team has reported Israeli Defence Forces participation in competitions attended by Defence Forces personnel.
