There are three bodies under the aegis of my Department; the Army Pensions Board, established under the Army Pensions Act 1927, the Ombudsman for the Defence Forces (ODF), established pursuant to the provisions of the Ombudsman (Defence Forces) Act 2004 and the External Oversight Body of the Defence Forces (EOB), which was placed on a Statutory basis on 1 December 2024.
The administration and support costs for the Army Pensions Board (APB) are charged to Vote 35 Army Pensions. There is no direct allocation of funding to the APB, and it does not have a role in managing funding or finances.
The ODF and the EOB both receive funding from Vote 36 Defence. The information requested, detailing the annual funding allocation to the ODF for each of the past 15 years, is provided in the table below along with the allocation for the EOB since 2024.
