Dáil Éireann Debate, Thursday - 30 April 2026
83. Deputy Joe Neville asked the Minister for Social Protection if his Department measures the timeframe for which a person is in receipt of jobseekers allowance, or collects data on successful recipients gaining employment; and if so, the number of successful candidates that gained employment from receiving Jobseekers since the beginning of 2026; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Amharc ar fhreagraFrom 1 January 2026 to 28 March 2026, over 63,000 jobseeker's claims have closed.
Of these, at least 25,000 claims closed due to the recipient gaining employment. This was measured as instances where the recipient started a new employment within 28 days of their claim closing. This is based on Commencements of Employment data from Revenue, however this data is subject to a time lag, so the actual figure is likely to be higher.
