Ceisteanna (247)

Mairéad Farrell

Ceist:

247. Deputy Mairéad Farrell asked the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment the reason his Departmental officials have failed to publish submissions to the public consultation on the Wild Salmon and Sea Trout Tagging Scheme (Amendment) Regulations and Conservation Measures 2026, which closed on 5 March 2026; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The second public consultation on the proposed Wild Salmon and Sea Trout Tagging Scheme (Amendment) Regulations closed on 5 March 2026. A total of 530 submissions were received from a wide range of stakeholders including anglers, members of the public, angling clubs, commercial licence holders, representative bodies and businesses dependent on angling tourism.

As was the case with the first public consultation, a comprehensive Consultation Report, which includes a list and summary of all the responses received, was prioritised for publication to ensure stakeholder feedback was made publicly available in a timely manner.

It remains the Department's intention to publish copies of all submissions. However, given the high number of responses received, it will take some time to prepare submissions for publication. The submissions will be made available on the consultation page once this process has been completed.
