Ceisteanna (511)

Barry Heneghan

Ceist:

511. Deputy Barry Heneghan asked the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment the estimated number of construction, engineering, electrical, maintenance and long-term operational jobs supported by large-scale renewable energy, grid infrastructure and data centre-related investment projects in the State for each year from 2021 to date in 2026, in tabular form. Energy infrastructure projects of the nature set out by the deputy are carried out by bodies and agencies under the remit of other departments, including the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, and accordingly my Department does not hold information with respect to the corresponding number of jobs supported.

However, the Programme for Government 2025 recognised the central role data centres play in contributing to economic growth and the enterprise economy. A study is underway in my Department which when published will outline the value of data centres to Ireland, including it's contribution to employment, and my officials will follow up with the study as soon as it is available.
