Ceisteanna (601)

Marie Sherlock

Ceist:

601. Deputy Marie Sherlock asked the Minister for Education and Youth her proposals for a school (details supplied) for whom emergency works were refused to repair their defective roof and are left with no other options because the summer works scheme cuts off 12 months in advance; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The school the Deputy has referenced is on my department's Capital Programme for the construction of a new school facility. This capital project was included in the first tranche of projects I announced under my department's NDP Implementation Plan, to go to tender in 2026 / 27.

I am aware that the building the school currently occupies is sub-optimal and a plan is being worked on within my department to secure more suitable interim accommodation until the permanent facility is delivered. Engagements with the school are ongoing in this regard.

This school provides are very valuable service in North Dublin City Centre. The continued provision of safe and secure accommodation for this school is a priority of my department.
