While the immediate economic impact of hosting EURO 2028 will be significant, it is important that the event and the Government investment in it is also used to leverage long-term benefits for football and for the wider community.

The Government is committed to ensuring there are tangible benefits to wider society arising from the hosting of all such major international sports events.

The unique power of football to inspire children to play and develop a long-term affinity for the game will be a core theme of the EURO 2028 legacy.

Across the host nations, an ambitious, collaborative Impact and Legacy programme encompassing soccer participation initiatives, sustainability, arts and heritage, and community cohesion is in development, with details to be announced in due course.
