327. Deputy Pádraig Mac Lochlainn asked the Minister for Education and Youth to provide an update on the major extension project at a school (details supplied); and her Department’s response to the proposal from Donegal ETB to construct a new school building on an adjacent site. [36502/26]
Amharc ar fhreagraThe project referred to by the Deputy has been devolved to Donegal Education and Training Board (DETB) for delivery.
The project is currently at Stage 2b of the architectural design process. This allows for detailed design and planning, obtaining the necessary statutory permissions and the preparation of tender documents.
Planning permission was granted in 2024 subject to certain conditions being addressed. The ETB and Department are currently engaging to identify the most appropriate solution for this important school building project having regard to the best use of the available site and the long-term accommodation needs.
DETB will be engaging directly with the school authority to keep it informed of progress.
