Since I took up office in January of last year, my Department has made significant progress in delivering on the Programme for Government commitments across the Arts and Culture, Media, Communications, and Sport sectors.

Each of these commitments has been assigned to the most appropriate business unit in my Department, and that unit is responsible in the first instance for ensuring that it is delivered in an efficient and timely manner. The delivery of Programme for Government commitments is subject to the same structures of governance and oversight that are implemented for all other policy matters in my Department.

In terms of reporting on the progress made towards the delivery of our Programme for Government commitments, the Strategic Policy Unit in my Department maintains a list of all of our commitments with a progress update for each commitment which is updated regularly.

In January 2026, I published an update on progress towards meeting these commitments to the end of 2025 on my Department’s website: Progress in meeting Programme for Government commitments 2025. This document will be updated in July to reflect progress made in the first half of this year.
