In line with the Programme for Government 2025, the State is working to develop more State-owned international protection accommodation and reduce reliance on commercially contracted accommodation. At present, a small number of projects are under consideration to maximise sites already in use by the Department for the purpose of providing accommodation. There are currently no concluded plans or finalised projected costs for any modular accommodation units for international protection applicants in 2026 and 2027.
